We are in pursuit of a distinguished Tool Makers, adept in Tool & Die qualifications, to spearhead our precision-driven manufacturing initiatives, propelling operational excellence and efficiency to unprecedented levels. This is a Hands-On Position, Take Charge and Make a Difference.
Position Summary:
As our Tool Maker, you will be the linchpin in revolutionizing our stamping processes and systems. Your role is instrumental in devising and implementing strategies that redefine industry standards for precision and efficiency. With your extensive expertise in Tool & Die, adeptness in leading cross-functional teams, and a sharp focus on eradicating inefficiencies, you will be the driving force of our continuous quest for excellence. You currently are or will be the SME (Site Manufacturing Expert) in the Tool Maker Team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build and develop tools with close tolerances aimed at reducing costs or improving the speed or quality of a production operation
- Understanding of GD&T is a Plus to Read and Understand CAD
- Assist Manager in determining the proper methods and or techniques used in the repair of Customer Die’s. Make Recommendations for Improvements in the Process
- Develop plans for shop made components and check fixtures
- Help create work instructions for assembly/disassembly of tooling document dimensional data.
- Be part of the cross functional team with engineers, production, programmers, or others to resolve machining related problems
- Read and understand cad, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of parts
- Provide dies that are ready for production
- Repair or manufacture parts to maintain production tooling
- Select, align, and secure holding fixture, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, EDMs, lathes, and grinders.
- Calculate and set up controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, cushion pressures, etc. for computerized machine control.
- Validate parts on PG, UCF or Parts Gauge quality of finished work piece to specifications
- Maintain, lubricate and clean molds and recommend improvements for cycle preventive maintenance
- Preform general maintenance on Toolroom equipment

- Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Masterfully orchestrate Tool & Die qualifications, ensuring seamless integration of tooling into plant production operations.
- Employ profound knowledge in GD&T, Panel Gauge Measuring, and CMM, making precise adjustments vital for the manufacturing process.
- Champion lean manufacturing principles, driving our team toward the apex of efficiency and complete waste elimination.
- Lead cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative environment to integrate sophisticated manufacturing strategies seamlessly.
- Deliver compelling presentations to executive leadership, showcasing the evolution, breakthroughs, and strategic direction of our stamping projects.
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to transform stamping processes, integrating innovative solutions and state-of-the-art technology.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction, employing ingenious solutions that significantly enhance productivity and product quality.
- Draft detailed project plans with clear objectives, timelines, and resource allocations, ensuring flawless execution and successful outcomes.
- Stay attuned to industry trends and advancements, boldly incorporating cutting-edge practices and technology to maintain our leadership in the market.
- Excel as an outstanding mentor, nurturing the development of junior engineers and team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Knowledge of and Working Best Practice Experience with Progressive Dies, Transfer Dies, Large Press Lines, Robot Transfer, Blank and Coil Feed and more.
- Working Knowledge and Best Practices of Die and Equipment Buy-Off both Internationally and Domestic. Must understand what it takes to bring the equipment back to the Home Plant and qualify for Production Operations.
- Manage a Team of Seasoned 20+ Year Tool Makers and Start Building Your New Team
- Work with Cross Functional Teams throughout the Plant
- Help Manage Customer Expectations in Tooling Performance and Quality
- Ability to Present Executive Level Presentations, meeting KPI’s, Die Qualification Schedules, Maintenance, etc.
- Good understanding of Types of Steels, Aluminum, Coatings, Machining Process for Die Repairs
- Understanding of New Product Launch for the Manufacturing Plant
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in Tool & Die, Progressive, Line Dies, Tandem Lines, Compound Tooling, etc.
- 6 - 10 Years Experience in Tool & Die, in a Fast-Paced Manufacturing Environment
- Knowledge of Best Practices for New Product Launch, Die Maintenance and Corrective Action Measures
- Work with a Team of 20+ Tooling Technicians and Tool Makers – Must be a Strong Player
- A two-year post high school diploma / certificate in machining, tooling journeymen, or similar trade and two years of relevant experience, OR a high school diploma and minimum 6 to 10 years of experience.
- Strong written / verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Thorough knowledge of tool room machines, inspection, measuring and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment is a Plus+
