Business Banker
We have a tremendous opportunity for a commercial lender with experience developing business relationships and COIs in the I-70 corridor between Wheeling and Columbus. Our client is a $1B true community bank and is looking to expand its presence in this market that is new to them. This is a great opportunity for a Business Banker to come in and be the hero that develops this strategic market and creates a “beach head” for the bank further expansion.
Here is what you would be doing:
The Business Banking Officer, reporting to the EVP, Senior Lending Officer, is responsible for identifying new prospective business customers to develop lending and other banking relationships, maintaining and enhancing continuing lending/banking relationships with existing clients.
Essential Job Functions include:
- Develop prospects from current commercial customers, referral leads, and other sources
- Attend community and civic events as may be appropriate to develop new business prospects
- Make presentations on financial services to groups to attract new customers
- Contact prospective customers to present information on available services
- Determines customers’ financial services needs and prepares proposals to sell services
- Pre-qualify potential loan applicants by analyzing financial conditions and needs
- Evaluate costs and revenue of agreements to determine profitability
- Negotiate loan rate with borrower
- Properly analyze loans, credit structure, write clear, concise office memos to files and make recommendations to upper management approval authorities Work with the appropriate Portfolio Manager, Portfolio Assistant and/or Credit Analyst to maintain effective and ongoing communications with the client and to obtain necessary documentation, credit information and/or signatures.
- Introduce prospective customers to appropriate bank employees
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers
- Promote and sell bank products and services, keeping informed of new offerings
- Confer with customers and company officials to resolve customer issues/complaints
- Contribute to product development

Here is what our client requires:
- Business related degree preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years commercial lending experience in the banking/financial industry
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Well-developed negotiation skills
- Strong public relations and customer service skills
- Proven time management and organizational skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Extensive experience with laws and regulations related to lending
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work productively and efficiently on an independent basis
- Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
