SVP - Director of Accounting Policy
If you are an Accounting Professional looking to make a great career move, we may have the opportunity for you. Our client is a high performing bank in the Louisiana Market and they are looking for a Director of Accounting Policy.
The key facets of this role are to ensure proper understanding and implementation of accounting policies and practices in accordance with US GAAP. You will be doing this not only for the bank, but enterprise wide, for all the client’s different lines of business. Being naturally curious, having the ability to research and apply new pronouncements as they come out from the SEC, FASB Board, or the AICPA is a must. You must be technically proficient, but also possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to ensure that key internal stakeholders are getting a cogent, logical, easy to understand message.
This is a highly visible role in the organization. Due to the ever changing landscape in banking, you must not only be proactive, but responsive to requests from various stakeholders in the lines of business so they can be prompt in their decision making processes. Helping them understand and impart the message within their own business line is important, as is helping them implement said change. It goes without saying that you will not only dealing with internal stakeholders, but external ones as well. Communicating with auditors, examiners, and being the face of policy for the bank at various industry roundtables is a big part of this job as well.
Our client bank’s overall growth strategy is quite solid. They are hiring pedigreed talent and with the current and anticipated complexity, having a broad-based policy background is key. Reg Z, Reg B, FHA, RESPA, FCRA, BSA, FHA, CRA, RFPA, you name it, it will be on your radar. This is a dynamic bank and the pace is quick and the expectations are high.
Of course, there will be various special projects and review work to be done, so being malleable and a team player is expected. The organization has a collaborative culture, so if you are most comfortable working in a silo with the green eye shade on, this probably isn’t the job for you.
Intrigued? If you are a CPA, with eight plus years of public accounting background and an aggregate twelve plus years of financial services industry experience, and are ready to take your career to the next level, this could be the opportunity for you. If you are not a banker, but are a ‘policy person’ by trade, please inquire in confidence. We look forward to hearing from you.
