Sr Relationship Manager - Team Lead
Are you a seasoned commercial lender with a passion for building strong client relationships and leading high-performing teams? Our client is looking for a Team Leader in their Commercial Lending department to spearhead business development and provide mentorship to a high-performing team within a dynamic, community-driven banking environment.
Position Overview:
As a Senior Relationship Manager, you will lead departmental efforts with a focus on innovation and business development. Your role will involve cultivating strong client relationships and overseeing the commercial lending team, positioning yourself as a trusted resource for both colleagues and clients. A solid background in commercial lending is required, and experience in commercial real estate lending—particularly in areas such as construction, IRE, multi-family, and owner-occupied properties—is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain valuable business relationships within Central NY.
- Oversee and mentor the Commercial Lending team, offering support in both client interactions and administrative duties.
- Provide coaching to team members to drive performance excellence.
- Review complex loans, offering insights on credit issues, loan structure, and managing relationships.
- Actively seek out and expand new business opportunities, aligning portfolio growth with the bank’s strategic objectives.
- Regularly engage with prospective and current clients to strengthen relationships.
- Meet with business clients to assess financial standing and determine creditworthiness.
- Negotiate loan terms, structures, fees, and repayment plans with applicants.
- Ensure timely completion and compliance of loan closings.
- Cross-sell additional bank products and services to meet customer needs.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial lending.
- Strong grasp of commercial credit and lending processes.
- Proven ability to build meaningful business relationships in the Central NY market.
- Established network of Centers of Influence (COIs) to aid business growth.
- Experience managing and expanding an existing loan portfolio.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Adherence to ethical standards and regulatory compliance.
- Commitment to community involvement and alignment with the bank’s values.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
