Confidential Opportunity: Director of Case Management
Location: Southern California
Our client is a large not-for-profit, acute care hospital. They have engaged us to confidentially seek an experienced Director of Case Management to oversee and enhance care coordination, utilization management, and discharge planning. This executive-level role is responsible for optimizing patient flow, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading an interdisciplinary team focused on improving healthcare outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop case management and utilization review programs to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective patient transitions.
- Implement strategies to reduce length of stay (LOS) while maintaining high-quality patient care.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership, physicians, and community-based providers to streamline care coordination across the continuum.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation regulations, including InterQual criteria and utilization management best practices.
- Supervise and mentor a multidisciplinary team of nurses, case managers, and social workers to enhance performance and patient outcomes.
- Participate in strategic planning and performance improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing case management operations.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- RN license (California preferred) with a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
- Master’s degree (MSN, MHA, MBA…)
- Case Management Certification is a plus.
- Minimum of three (5) years of supervisory or management experience in acute care case management and utilization review.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and reimbursement policies related to case management.
- Must have strong working experience with California regulations, including Title 22.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement, staff development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
