Our client is a leading developer of commercial and industrial-scale solar energy and battery storage projects. With over 15 years of experience, they have developed more than 1,900 behind-the-meter and community solar projects, totaling over 1.6 gigawatts of renewable electricity. They serve a diverse clientele, including businesses, government entities, educational institutions, and healthcare organizations, offering a broad array of development, asset management, and advisory services.
The East Coast Sales Manager will spearhead behind-the-meter and distributed generation sales activities, directly driving new solar, storage, and other energy as a service solution sales within the Eastern United States. This role is pivotal in expanding the client’s portfolio and project pipeline, executing market entry strategies, and pursuing new growth opportunities in rapidly evolving markets. This role will work directly with end use customer and leverage relationships with Contractors, Engineering firms and other energy services companies to bring innovative solutions to the market. The Sales Manager will collaborate with development, engineering, legal, and project finance teams to craft persuasive value propositions for prospective clients and ensure sound economic fundamentals for investors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Acquisition: Lead new customer acquisition efforts in the Eastern US with Commercial and Industrial customers and channel partners.
- Sales Targets: Own and achieve sales volume targets within the assigned market.
- Economic Assessment: Evaluate the economic viability of project proposals, proposing strategies to enhance revenue streams or reduce costs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Development, Engineering, Legal, and Management teams to advance projects efficiently.
- Market Analysis: Monitor and assess emerging regulatory rulings, and regional state and utility energy incentive programs, identifying potential market opportunities.
- Partner Coordination: Collaborate with regional partners supporting origination, development, or project delivery.
- Contract Negotiation: Manage the negotiation process for Power Purchase Agreements/ESAs, leases, cash purchases, and other relevant project documentation.
- Pipeline Management: Provide regular updates on sales pipeline, forecasting, and progress to management.
- Lead Management: Efficiently manage incoming leads and assess opportunities promptly.
- Value Proposition Development: Analyze customer goals for sustainability, operational resiliency, and capital to craft compelling value propositions.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with all functional groups to maintain and enhance deal velocity.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of direct energy services sales experience in the Eastern US, with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Analytical Skills: Strong insight development and value proposition definition capabilities.
- Adaptability: Ability to operate effectively with high energy and flexibility in a fast-paced, evolving team environment.
- Self-Motivation: Demonstrated ability to manage diverse relationships and multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Problem-Solving: Creativity and critical thinking skills to address industry-level and client-specific challenges.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Industry Experience: Experience in the solar or Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) industry is a plus.
Salary Range: $110 - 150K DOE + Uncapped commission
