Director of Financial Reporting
We are working exclusively with a financial services organization in the Georgia Market that is looking to hire a Director of Financial Reporting. Our firm specializes specifically in banking placing CFO’s, Chief Accounting Officers, Controllers, Treasurers, etc. in Community and Small Regional Banks Nationwide. For that reason, our client will only consider candidates with ALL of the requisite skill sets for the job.
If you are an Accounting and Finance Professional and have eight to ten years of experience either in a Public Accounting Firm auditing Large Community and/or Small Regional Banks or have been an Assistant Controller, Controller, or Accounting Policy Manager in a publicly traded financial services setting this could be an excellent opportunity for you.
Our client is a multibillion dollar plus financial services organization with multiple business lines that due to a well thought out corporate strategy has positioned themselves well in the banking industry over the past several years. They have weathered various financial storms extremely well over the years and it’s a testament to strong leadership. As strategic initiatives have been achieved in the months and years past, they are now on everyone’s radar due to the impressive bench strength they possess, the growth plans they are continuing to implement, and the building of their infrastructure to support long term growth. They have added several key team members from competitor regional banks onto their team and this Director of Financial Reporting role will be no different. You will report to a top-notch Managing Director over all external reporting and will need to be a collaborative team builder, that embraces FASB’s, and, in general, enjoys rolling up your sleeves and getting into the 10K’s, 10Q’s, 8K’s, MD&A, and during ‘down time’; Accounting Policy. The team our client has built is awesome, this bank is impressive, and they are further building a top-notch financial reporting and policy operation and you will be helping drive it.
Key drivers to success in this role includes possessing a CPA, Public Accounting experience (working with banks), strong knowledge of US GAAP, Accounting Policy (research and apply), SEC Reporting and Filings (10K’s, 10Q’s 8K’s, etc.). Workiva expertise and experience supervising and developing a high performing, cohesive staff is key. You will have two direct reports in this role.
As you might imagine, this position requires excellent interpersonal skills, strong presentation skills, decisiveness, a track record of ‘staying power’ and attention to detail. They are not fans of ‘drama’. They like folks that are smart, work hard, but are humble, and have a life outside of work. This is key. (They still offer hybrid (Atlanta-based candidates only) with three days in office (M, Tu, Th), two days from home (Wed/Fri). Additionally, regular interface with upper Management is part of this role and having the poise, the polish, and professionalism to handle that spotlight is a ‘must have’ as well.
