Business Development Representative (Commercial Construction / Building Products)

We are partnering with a fast-growing specialty contractor in the commercial construction space that supplies and installs critical building components across projects such as schools, healthcare facilities, offices, and public infrastructure.
This organization is known for delivering turnkey solutions, working directly with General Contractors from early-stage planning through execution. They are expanding their business development team and seeking a relationship-driven BDR to help accelerate growth across the Southeast.
The Role
This is a front-end business development role focused on opening doors, building relationships, and driving visibility with General Contractors. Success in this role is measured by your ability to generate opportunities, get on bid lists, and position the company as a go-to partner before projects are awarded.
You will engage primarily with Pre-construction teams, Project Managers, and Estimators, building a pipeline that converts into active project bids.
What You’ll Be Doing

Identify and engage General Contractors across commercial, institutional, and public-sector construction (MUSH: Municipal, Universities, Schools, Healthcare)

Drive outbound outreach through a mix of calls, emails, jobsite visits, and in-person meetings

Build relationships with Precon teams, PMs, and estimators to secure inclusion on bid lists

Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities

Partner closely with estimating and internal sales teams to convert opportunities into active bids

Capture market intelligence, customer needs, and competitive insights to inform strategy

Maintain CRM activity and provide visibility into pipeline and outreach efforts
What They’re Looking For

2–5+ years of experience in business development, outside sales, or lead generation

Background in commercial construction, building products, or adjacent industries preferred (specialty trades, interiors, architectural products, Division 8/10/12, etc.)

Comfortable with proactive outreach and building relationships from scratch

Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both field and office stakeholders

Organized, self-motivated, and resilient with a consistent follow-through mindset

Willingness to travel regionally across the Southeast, with strong initial emphasis on Georgia specifically
