The Vice President of Estimating will lead all estimating operations, personnel, strategy, and process development. This executive will shape the company’s market positioning, drive accuracy and competitiveness, and build a high‑performance estimating organization capable of supporting long‑term growth.
Leadership
Partner with preconstruction and operations to ensure competitive positioning and accurate, high‑quality cost solutions.
Lead and structure the estimating department to support current and future workload.
Define roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for the team.
Ensure timely and constructive engagement with subcontractors and vendors.
Communicate vendor/subcontractor dynamics that may impact future work.
Coach, mentor, and develop team members; build a succession pipeline.
Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Stay current on code changes, industry trends, and emerging opportunities.
Strategic &Financial Leadership
Partner with executive leadership to forecast backlog, revenue, and margin performance.
Establish and monitor KPIs for estimating accuracy, hit rates, and bid performance.
Lead go/no‑go decisions based on risk, profitability, and strategic alignment.
Ensure scope, design, and contractual risks are clearly communicated before handoff.
Process & Operational Excellence
Maintain strong client relationships and ensure transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee standards for estimate reviews, bid leveling, and executive approvals.
Champion technology adoption, data analytics, and AI‑driven estimating tools.
Ensure seamless turnover from preconstruction to operations.
Serve as a key connector between estimating, operations, business development, and executive leadership.
Market & Business Development Influence
Engage in industry associations to identify new subcontractors and vendor partners.
Build and maintain strong client relationships; support client engagement throughout all project phases.
Strengthen vendor and subcontractor relationships to support future work and project alignment.
Set the tone for a high‑performance, accountable, and collaborative estimating culture.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
15+ years of proven mechanical construction experience, including HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical piping.
Demonstrated success leading and developing an estimating team.
