We are hiring a highly motivated engineer to join our client's team as a Robotics Software Engineer. This role will help develop the core robot software code that enables robust, safe, reliable, and intelligent behavior in our robotic platforms. You will implement the core infrastructure of our robot software platform, enabling advanced capabilities in kinematics, vision, sensor fusion, and controls. Your solutions will be essential to delivering responsive, capable, and reliable systems that operate around patients and become an extension of clinicians in a real world medical application. This is truly an exciting role!
Mechanical Engineer - Medical Robotics
About The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to help our client bring their medical robot to life. This role sits at the heart of transforming intelligent software and control systems into physical motion, precision, and trust. You will shape the hardware that clinicians see, touch, and rely on—turning advanced robotics into a seamless, human-centered experience.
From early concept exploration through production release, you will play a key role in defining how our robot moves, feels, and performs in real clinical environments. You will help convert ambitious ideas into tangible mechanisms, refine them through iteration and testing, and ensure they mature into reliable, scalable products that meet the expectations of both healthcare professionals and regulatory standards.
This is an opportunity to build not just components, but a system that meaningfully augments human capability and improves patient care.
What You’ll Do
- Design. Prototype. Test. Refine. Repeat. You will be asked to solve challenging mechanical problems and continuously improve design approaches to deliver high-performance, production-ready robotic hardware.
- Design and develop precision mechanical subsystems including linkages, motion assemblies, structural frames, and mounting systems
- Perform material and component selection based on strength, wear characteristics, application compatibility, cost, and manufacturability
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready drawings with clear tolerancing and GD&T
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure precision and repeatability
- Build and iterate prototypes, participating hands-on in mechanical assembly and integration
- Support system-level integration with electrical, controls, and software teams
- Contribute to Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) efforts
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to transition designs from prototype to scalable production
- Participate in risk analysis, verification, validation, and documentation within regulated medical environments
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related discipline
- 3+ years of mechanical engineering work experience, in both product design and prototyping
- Direct experience in medical device product development
- Experience developing production-level products (not solely research prototypes)
- Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience designing mechanical linkages and precision assemblies
- Solid understanding of materials, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in physical hardware environments
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, technically rigorous environment
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Passion for building impactful technology that improves the lives of clinicians and patients
- Authorization to work indefinitely in the USA
Bonus Points
- Experience with robotic or electromechanical systems
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA design controls, or regulated product development
- Experience perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural, thermal, or vibration validation
- Experience with precision motion systems, actuation, or sensor-integrated assemblies
- Experience supporting early-stage manufacturing ramp or pilot builds
- Master’s degree preferred
- Equity: Company stock options.
