Nurse Manager, Emergency & Cardiopulmonary Departments

A respected healthcare organization on Hawaiʻi Island is seeking an Emergency Services & Cardiopulmonary Manager for a visible leadership role within a 35-bed acute care hospital.
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, this leader will oversee a 24/7 Emergency Department with Level III Trauma designation, along with Cardiopulmonary Services. The ED sees approximately 1,400–1,500 visits per month and operates within a new 12,000+ square foot department featuring 13 private rooms, including 2 trauma rooms.
This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced Emergency leader who is strong with people, comfortable in a visible role, and motivated by the chance to strengthen accountability, support staff development, improve team cohesion, and help move key department metrics forward.
The right fit will be someone who can set clear expectations, address behaviors directly, coach consistently, and bring practical, evidence-based ideas to department operations, education, and triage practice.
Position Highlights
- Oversight of Emergency Services and Cardiopulmonary
- Reports directly to the Director of Nursing
- Leadership responsibility for 30 FTEs and 2 Clinical Operations Supervisors
- New 12,000+ sq. ft. Emergency Department
- 13 private rooms, including 2 trauma rooms
- Approximately 17,000 annual ED visits
- Level III Trauma Center
- Strong patient experience results, with HCAHPS among the highest in the system
What They’re Looking For
- RN required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3–5 years of leadership experience in Emergency Services required
- Strong people leadership and department management experience
- Respiratory / Cardiopulmonary exposure is helpful
