Our well-established, privately-owned manufacturing client is seeking a Vice President of Operations for their Central OH operations. This client serves multiple industries in automotive, mining, medical, aerospace and others.
The primary responsibilities of this position are managing all hands-on operational procedures of the company. This position is responsible for the performance of all department functions including Manufacturing, Material Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, On-Time Delivery, Quality Standards and Safety.
This position directly reports to the President. This position assists the President in the aggressive and successful growth of the company. Guided by the objectives of the company, this position provides the leadership, management, and vision, necessary to ensure the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, people, and systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Reviewing and approving plans for the control of planned outputs, budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, and engineering effectiveness
2. Leading the engineering/metallurgy team to successfully manufacture technical products
3. Presenting monthly reports on performance to management team
4. Reviewing and monitoring cost control reports, cost estimates, and manpower
5. Forecasting manpower and facility requirements.
6. Working closely with other departments to ensure company goals are met
7. Reviewing and approving major projects involving operations
8. Developing plans for improvement of manufacturing process
9. Developing and recommending changes or new operation policies
10. Ensuring duties, responsibilities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood
11. Defining objectives and goals for the operations division
12. Developing short-term and long-term goals within budget constraints
13. Monitoring implementation of manufacturing and organizations plans
14. Developing and establishing objectives and procedures overseeing performance of operations
15. Establishing objectives to direct reports and reviews performance
16. Monitoring, directing and appraising performance of direct reports
17. Identifying, developing and coordinating training and coaching needs and procedures
18. Facilitating communication and problem solving between departments.
19. Consulting with upper management concerning policy or major procedural changes
20. Providing recommendations for improving the effectiveness of policies and procedures
21. Reviewing budget proposals received from direct reports
Primary Qualifications
1. BS in Engineering or Business
2. Experience and knowledge in the manufacturing of technical products including Metallurgy, Testing, and Quality Control
3. Minimum 10 years in division level management role
4. Well-developed managerial skills
5. Proven ability to manage for growth and profitability
6. Strong analytical and reasoning skills and ability to multi-task
7. Good interpersonal skills
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
9. Results oriented
