A growing community hospital in the Southwest is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead a high-volume perioperative department during an important period of growth and operational advancement.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on perioperative leader who enjoys working closely with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, sterile processing, and hospital leadership to strengthen quality, safety, efficiency, and team performance.

The Director will oversee:
- 10 OR’s Main Operating Room
- 114 FTE’s
- Annual volumes of roughly 9,000 surgical cases and 2,000 endoscopy procedures
- Ambulatory Surgery
- Pre-Op
- PACU
- Preadmission Testing
- Anesthesia Services
- Central Sterile Processing
Service lines include orthopedics, urology, OB/GYN, general surgery, plastics, ENT, neurosurgery, podiatry, and other surgical specialties.
What You’ll Lead
The ideal leader will be visible, approachable, clinically credible, and comfortable leading in a fast-paced surgical environment where teamwork and patient safety are priorities.
The Director of Surgical Services will be responsible for:
- Daily leadership of perioperative operations
- Staff development, engagement, performance management, and recruitment
- Scheduling, productivity, payroll, and departmental staffing strategy
- Quality, safety, regulatory readiness, and evidence-based practice
- Budget oversight, supply utilization, vendor relationships, and contracts
- Collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing leaders, and executive leadership
- Operational improvement across surgical throughput, patient experience, and team performance
Ideal Background
Qualified candidates will bring:
- Active RN license, or ability to obtain state licensure
- BSN required
- Master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of surgical nursing experience
- Proven leadership experience in Surgical Services
- Strong understanding of perioperative operations, regulatory standards, staffing, budgeting, and physician partnership
- Ability to lead a large, multidisciplinary surgical team
